The Konjac Charcol & Dog Sponge*

I was asked to review The Konjac Sponge Companies Charcoal Facial sponge, along side a sponge for you Dog. I must admit that this took me a little by surprise in that they do sponges for dogs, however I think it's a wonderful idea and fantastic for me to treat Harley to a little pampering too.
The Konjac Company produce products that are vegan and cruelty free, made from 100% natural vegetable fibre and mineral rich. They originate from South Korea, and are created from a patented formula which cannot be reproduced or copied.

Now when I received my copy cat product in a Glossybox once, I didn't know that The Konjac Company was the original, as a fairly new company only 5 years old. There are many copy cat companies which produce their sponges in china and actually contain many harmful chemicals which help to give the sponges their colour or simply to speed up the manufacturing process.

The original sponges are hand made and take days to make and will not be found to be outrageous colours which aren't obviously from nature.

These sponges are carefully blended with clays and powders to achieve their specific properties tailored to different skin conditions; as follows:

  • 100% Pure Konjac - All Skin types/ normal
  • Charcol Powder - Oily and spot prone skin
  • Green French Clay - Oily t-zone and combination skin.
  • Red French Clay - Dry, damaged and mature skin including eczema and rosacea
  • Pink French Clay - Tired and devitalised skin
  • Chamomile Powder - Soothes angry, irritated skin
  • Green Tea Powder - Antioxidant rich to purify and calm skin.
Due to my skin, which is prone to be very oily and therefore am prone to the odd breakout, I asked to review one of their Charcoal Range.

This Angel Face Wash Cloth, infused with Bamboo Charcol, is a new product which isn't even available on their website. (The 100% Konjac Angel Face Wash Cloth is now available, R.R.P £12.99.)

This Angel cloth is a skin friendly flannel/ muslin which has a unique net like structure that gives the user gentle exfoliation and a deep cleanse. The charcoal powder draws out dirt and bacteria from open pores, therefore leaving skin completely fresh, perfect for oily and spot prone skin.

I was really happy to be trying this out and found it so easy to use. The only downside to these kind of sponges is that you do need to was your face first so it's free from make-up before using it otherwise you'll just contaminate the sponge. It's not a real issue, just one you have to consider if you're in a rush.

I did find that with this face cloth my skin did start to feel smoother and less oily with continual use.

There is a great how to care for your sponge guide in the packaging, so make sure you give that a read to ensure you get the most out of your sponge. They are supposed to last up to 1-3 months with the proper care, and from the copy cat one I have used before I cannot see this being an issue.

They even do a sponge for you Dog! Crazy I know but it is such a great idea, R.R.P £9.99. This sponge is made to help cleanse your dogs face and keep away tear stains if used daily. I have never noticed tear stains on Harley before, and therefore cannot comment on that aspect of it.

I did find the sponge to work well with Harley and she really loved the pampering, she just laid back and let me wipe the damp sponge over her face. It worked really well removing any dirt and sleep hanging around her eyes, it also didn't leave her damp at all.

Overall I am super happy with these sponges and would certainly look to re-purchase them once they have become worn.
